TotalEnergies, has operations in 130 countries and with fresh drilling in Uganda, is right in the spotlight. □□īut Greenpeace isn't backing down! □□ They've vowed to release the video as planned, with Edina Ifticene of Greenpeace France boldly declaring, "We won't be silenced!" □ They've fired off a "cease and desist" letter to Greenpeace, claiming unauthorised use of trademarks and logos. In a video released by Greenpeace, it features the Stade de France drowning in an oil slick and focusses the message by stating the fossil fuel industry pumps out a stadium's worth of oil every three hours and 37 minutes! □Īs you would expect, Rugby World Cup organisers aren't too thrilled about this hard-hitting campaign. I've been heavily conflicted recently regarding conversations surrounding #sportswashing concerning Saudi Arabia's large scale investments into the world of golf with LIV Golf and more recently, record breaking money thrown into football to attract the big names to play in the Saudi Pro League (SPL).īut now to add fuel to the fire (pun intended), we now have Big Oil sponsoring the biggest sporting event in world Rugby, and it stinks of foul play. I've been involved in sports all my life, even studying all aspects of it from my time at Liverpool Hope University. Rugby World Cup France 2023 is officially sponsored by one of the world's largest oil and gas giants, and well, it makes me feel uneasy. I'm not talking about France v New Zealand, I'm talking about TotalEnergies v Greenpeace □ □□️ The biggest match of the Rugby World Cup and it hasn't kicked off yet.
